The best way to make money I believe is to sell your own product because you you come up with the price and when someone buys your product – you have just made money! No affiliate percentage to deal with, but rather you get the full price ticket.

The best products for websites is information. There are a couple of ways to make money:

1. Digital Product
2. Have a membership

Digital products are great because you can put together your information and make sure that it’s what you want and then once it’s ready you can use a service to be the gateway – there are several of them out there. These gateways can help store your digital product for you, the become the payment processor or set up a payment processor and then once the customer pays, they are then given a link to download the product.

What’s great about this is that everyone has their “thing” that they are passionate about and so why not use that passion to create a website or blog and then when others that are young or new in your passion area come to your site, they see your product and recognize that you have some expertise in the area – guess what? – they are going to buy especially if the price is right.

Membership is a little different. With membership you need to have a website that offers enough information to allow a customer to figure out that you are a an expert in your field, but yet not offer all of the information, therefore that’s why they would want to sign up for your monthly or yearly membership so that they can get the full benefits of your expertise.

A plus for a membership operated site is that you get reoccurring or residual income based on how many are members, but minus is that people will also decide to stop membership and then you lose the income that was once there. However, if you are gaining more than you are losing then you are doing good. A membership site probably involves more commitment then digital because you need to keep offering the value to your members where as a digital product is something that can just be purchased if wanted.
